PIA Apps not authenticating in Qatar

HI, I live in Qatar, I am aware of the block by the two telecom companies from people using VOIP here. I have successfully used VPN to overcome this problem. However since yesterday the PIA App is not going past the Authenticating on Android, Windows or IOS. I have tried different countries but to no avail. The purpose of getting the VPN is to overcome the above mentioned problems. It seems the ISPs here are able to identify the traffic and blocking it even before the app is able to connect to one of your servers. Is there a solution for this problem? Can you investigate this ASAP and let me know the outcome please?

I have already submitted and my ticket number is 530478.
Thanks

  • I was adviced by the helpdesk to use L2TP VPN instead of Open VPN . The problem is resolved. Thanks
  • Hi i manage to set up the l2tp connection on my iPhone through cellular data. But impossible at home through the "official" router provided by the ISP. What is the configuration to do? Thank you

In the Doha airport now and enabled the TCP setting  along with port forwarding to port 443 to successfully get around the Qatari filtering.

@PIA y'all really need to make censorship evasi easier for lay users, especially considering the fact that it's quite hard to research evasion techniques once you're trapped behind filtered internet. Message boards like these are totally blocked, and there should be some sort of option to automatically attempt to troubleshoot when a connection isn't working
  • Hello All, Thank you for the inquiry. Unfortunately, when connecting to PIA within Turkey, China, Egypt, UAE and Qatar we cannot guarantee the level of connectivity you may encounter. We are willing to troubleshoot by trying a few different options to get our services working. Please understand that while we do our best to provide assistance in these countries, we are essentially unable to guarantee services.

Our first option is to try the various protocols and ports as documented in this helpdesk article. Mainly, the TCP/443 combination as a standard HTTPS connection: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/helpdesk/kb/articles/i-have-trouble-connecting-or-the-connection-drops-frequently-changing-ports. If that doesn’t work, however, we can try setting up a manual OpenVPN connection using direct IP addresses to avoid DNS-based censorship. If you need further assistance, please let us know! - PIA CS TEAM
