Synology NAS frequently not visible from Win7 PC running PIA
I'm running PIA on a Win7 PC. When I start PIA, all my local hosts are visible including 2 NAS units, one Zyxel and one Synology. I have a number of backups that fire off sequentially at around 10PM with the last one firing off at 2AM every night. For some reason the Synology NAS becomes invisible from the PC running PIA partway through the backup window. The backups have run flawlessly for years with PIA before this. I can still see/connect to the Zyxel NAS from the PC running PIA when this happens. I can connect to the Synology NAS from other hosts when this happens with no problem. The only way I can get connectivity back from the PC running PIA is to kill PIA and restart it. Then I have connectivity to the Synology NAS for another period until partway through the next backup window. This happens almost every night with a few sporadic exceptions where the NAS remains visible through the backup window.
Some potentially helpful details:
My network is on a single DC Server2008R2 domain with the DC handling DNS and DHCP. I have MSE running on the PIA PC and no other security software. All hosts including the NAS units are connected to a Nighthawk X10 R9000 router running the latest release of Kong DD-WRT firmware. I use gigibit switches to to gang multiple hosts located in different areas of the house and run a single cat 5e line to the router. The Synology NAS is connected directly to the router while the Zyxel NAS is connected to a gigibit switch then to the router. The PC and the Zyxel are on different gigibit switches but the switches are connected to the same Nighthawk router.
Any ideas what might be causing this or where I can start looking?
