I'm confused with the VPN vs Proxy as far as privacy goes.

I was wondering why with the proxy (turned on in utorrent) you don't have anything popping up in peerblock but when you only have the vpn on there's a ton of things that come up?

What does that mean if the contact my computer do they know who I am or what?

  • Peerblock has VPN and Proxy IPs in the lists. The 10.*.*.* IP range is PIA. You can safely disregard it or entirely disable Peerblock if you like.

    ah thank you
  • Peerblock probably doesn't understand the Socks protocol, so it doesn't look inside. It will only see the connection to the Socks server, and won't list it if it isn't blocked.

I don't understand why they block stuff. They have nearly 25% of the v4 address space in their list. Seems stupid.

It is stupid. I use it occasionally, but I have well over 1 billion IPs blocked when I use it. 99% of the hits are not anything I want blocked anyway, and I doubt it is even possible to verify most of the list(s) is/are worth using.
