Killswitch Issue
I've recently started using PIA again, since it now has more servers and better speeds. One feature I used the most was the Killswitch. However, using the Killswitch now will create a local IP conflict with my other computer. This effectively disables all connections to the internet via my router (tested on other devices besides the two computers), probably due to the way my router handles the conflict. Regardless, an IP conflict should not be happening in the first place.. Why would this be occurring?
For those who don't know what an IP conflict is: an IP conflict is where two (or more) devices share the same local IP address. This confuses the router, as it then doesn't know where to send the corresponding information.
My router, like virtually every router these days, uses DHCP. Both of these computers are on the reservation list (have static local IP's, based on MAC Address) so they retain the same local IP when they connect to it. These are the only two devices on the list.
With Killswitch off, everything works as expected. This is not typically acceptable for me, but I'm dealing with it for the time being. I recall in the past there was an issue with having other software-based network connections (in my case, VirtualBox). These are always enabled, but are not in use while the VPN is running, or at least I haven't tried doing so yet. The metric for my internet (ethernet) (which is also the only one connected to a LAN) connection is 1, while the VirtualBox metrics are set to auto. All others are also set to auto.
