PIA VPN not auto-reconnecting after sleep or hibernation. Windows 10. On versions after v.70

Hi all,

I have an up to date Windows 10 machine with no 3rd party AV, malware or firewall software to complicate things.

Please note. This is NOT an issue of PIA software PIA-Manager.exe failing to start on machine startup.
My PIA app with PIA-Manager.exe is running fine every time. Not the problem. PIA is in the system tray every time, all good there.

The problem is - on every version since v.70, most of the time PIA is failing to automatically reconnect the VPN when my laptop wakes from sleep or hibernation.

'Start application at login' and 'Auto-connect on launch' are of course switched on.

I've uninstalled and re-installed as per PIA's instructions many many times for every version. The problem exists in every version after v.70.

I've recently uninstalled v.75 and re-installed v.70. It auto-reconnects the VPN perfectly every time after sleep or hibernation.

Is anyone else experiencing anything like this?

    I am not too sure about this my self. But I would just recommend reconnecting when you boot your laptop up. I can only think that there might have been a change in the way PIA works or the TAP driver works. Hope this helps :)

    @DaftHunk, that's very strange — v71 only made changes to the MacOS version of the application — the Windows versions of v70 and v71 are identical. However, I'll definitely give this a try to see if I can repro!

    You might try signing up for the v76 beta to see if the issue is resolved in the new version.

    @PIAColleen When I first subscribed to PIA I actually stuck with v70 for a very long time (several months) before I even bothered to see if there were updates. So come to think of it I may have only tried "every version" from v72 onwards. This is why it stuck out to me so much. I had been getting perfect auto-reconnects every time with v70 for a very long time, and then newer versions were very erratic, perhaps auto-reconnecting only half the time if that.

    I've been back on v70 now for about a month and it's been flawlessly auto-reconnecting every time after waking from sleep or hibernate.

    I'm happy to stay on v70 until official new releases come out and I'll keep my fingers crossed for a fix.

    Update:
    v70 still perfectly reconnecting after waking from sleep every time.
    Tried v77 after uninstalling v70 correctly.
    v77 most of the time not reconnecting after waking from sleep.
    Going back to v70.
