VPN with uTorrent Remote

If I set my laptop up with a VPN and having a torrent downloading, then I use uTorrent remote on my desktop/phone to check the status, should I also be using a VPN on those devices? Or only on the device that's actually doing the downloading?

Or instead of uTorrent Remote, should I use something like Teamviewer?

    I don't see any issues with using the uTorrent remote locally on your network without a VPN. By definition it should never leave your home so no worries about that! I don't think it could even work with the VPN as you'd need two forwarded port and possibly some odd configuration on the uTorrent Remote.

    As for the other devices, if you don't have anything to protect on those then you'll be fine without a VPN. Obviously we recommend using PIA on all devices to prevent any browsing leaks and general protection, but if you only want to protect your torrent activity only the laptop needs the VPN.
