Can no longer get TAP adapter to work after V77 update

Hi there,

* Ever since I've updated to V77 last night, my VPN is no longer working. It broke the TAP adapter (came up with an error).
* Reinstalling has made things worse, I can now no longer install the TAP adapter, at all. It hangs during the last step of the installation, forever.
* Force quitting the installer from task bar leaves the TAP adapter non-installed.
* Installing the older, V55 client, does not solve the issue, TAP adapter still won't install.
* OpenVPN TAP adapter won't install either.

I have literally read every topic I could find, and have tried every step there was, including booting in Safe Mode, and fully uninstalling my BitDefender anti virus solution.

The only thing I haven't done (and not keen to try it) is uninstalling Express VPN, but I don't see why they'd conflict considering Express VPN has their own TAP adapter.

Specs:

CPU: i7 3770
RAM: 8GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR3
GPU: Gigabyte Aorus 1080TI
OS: Windows 10 64Bit

Not happy as right now, my client is effectively useless.
Please present a solution for my problem.

Thank you!

Kind regards,
Linkfish

  • Update:

I performed a system restore and now the TAP adapter is working again (restore point before I updated the PIA client).
I'll continue using the old version for now.
