PIA will not start

Hullo, I am a new member and have signed up for 12 months yesterday and for the life if me cannot get the Desktop Icon to load. I run windows 7 Pro which is bug/virus free and have gone through all the steps very carefully in an attempt to start it. I also have a Zgemma H2S android box that actually lists PIA as a preferred VPN server and it does not show an inkling of working on that either. I know that I am missing a crucial step somewhere along the line. Please help, thanks

  • First, which version of the PIA app did you download?
Next, did you right-click and run as administrator?
Next, is there any indication that something loaded?
    Check the following:
C:\Program Files\pia_manager - does it exist? Is there any files or folders there?
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features -  do you see anything related to Private Internet Access?
Also  check to see if you have the TAP driver installed.
    C:\Windows\System32\drivers - TAP0901.sys or something similar.

  • Hullo Omnibus, thanks for replying. I downloaded Windows VPN V77.
    Yes, I ran as Admin.
Yes, the desktop icon is there.
Yes, the C:\Program Files\pia_manager is there
Yes, PIA is there, 250mb in size
Yes, TAP is there as described
  • I assume you have done all of this but I have to ask just to make sure.

You right-clicked on the PIA icon and entered your login and password. If you get an error message then you might have entered it incorrectly.

You also selected the region you wanted to access form the list. So then are you saying that when you select a region you do not get a green icon saying you are connected?
