Tunnelblick and the "comp-lzo" warning--should I be concerned?
I've noticed that Tunnelblick has lately started crabbing at me about using the comp-lzo option when connecting to PIA. Everything's working fine, and my understanding is that the issue is OpenVPN has deprecated this option, meaning it will disappear in the future.
I have a couple questions:
1. Can I "future proof" my configuration--and shut Tunnelblick up--by moving from "comp-lzo" to "compress lzo"?
2. Will PIA be providing updated OpenVPN configurations that no longer use this option prior to OpenVPN removing it entirely?
Anyway, I figured asking about it now when it's not a big deal might make for less drama down the road should it become a big deal... <span>

It's true that OpenVPN is deprecating
comp-lzoin OpenVPN 2.5, but they still have quite a while to go before we see that released. If you want Tunnelblick to stop warning you about this option, you should be able to open the config file you're using in a text editor and simply replace
comp-lzowithcompress lzo.We will provide updated config files when it becomes necessary, but as of now we're sticking with
comp-lzobecause quite a few router firmwares are still running OpenVPN 2.3, which doesn't supportcompress lzo. We want to make sure we keep things compatible with as many devices as possible for as long as we can.
