Can someone at PIA please get authorization to provide us with a timeline of things to come??

I feel that since we as customers took part in drawing the company roadmap via the online survey, we should get to know exactly what features are going to be implemented in the near future. I don't think that's too much to ask. To me completion of the online survey meant that we were participating in the democratic process of PIA (in my understanding our answers dictate the future of the company.) I love PIA, however I would like a little insight Into what's coming down the pipeline since I took part in the decision-making process. I would understand if you guys can't provide an ETA for the implementation of certain features due to security reasons but I was hoping that we could get a general overview of what's to come such as a list of all the upcoming features and a detailed description of the purpose each feature will serve.

Thank you for fighting everyday to preserve a private Internet.  :) :D

  • I think in general the reason we are not giving more information at the moment is because we have some rather big projects and changes on their way, and I imagine we don't want to tip off the competition too much in advance as to what we are up to.

There's also the historical situation of times we have said we would work on something, but it turned out to be a lot more complicated than anticipated and changed priority and people would come ask where it's at. Some entire projects were scratched before because the developer that proposed it left the company, or because priorities changed due to a political event, etc.

It got complicated fairly quick even just when I started teasing v76 and its features and fixes on the forum.

I can say however that there is a lot of transparency of our processes coming up in the near future, and it's going to be amazing ;) Several projects are scheduled to land in the coming month(s) :)
  • @Max-P - we're all certainly looking forward to things!  :)

  • Good call @Max-P. In the past several years PIA has made many promises to us, only to break them and seldom ever even offer an apology. Better to just shut up about future wishful thinking. If all that big plan stuff actually does become deliverable there will be plenty of time to talk about it then. Until then I'll remain skeptical. But perhaps one day PIA will actually make good on all those past promises and win me back. Only time will tell.
  • Just wanted to update you all and let you know that this is the first step in our move toward increased transparency. We're aiming to release a repo per week over the coming months!
  • That's great @PIAColleen - sounds like the first big step in ditching Ruby as well!  :)
