SETTING UP DD-WRT

OK, I need some real tekkies here, I am new to the PIA World. I Opened an account and tried to setup my PIA account into my home network through my ISP, but I have been using a Router/Modem combination to run my ISP/Wifi through.  I was told that I needed a separate router and that I could set it up using the DD-WRT. I have a Netgear AC1200 Router but I cannot figure out how to set up with my modem/router combo to allow the PIA account to be installed. I have watched the tutorial video on setting up the DD-WRT and cannot even find how to download this manual. PLEASE HELP ME.... I am using a Windows computer, Windows 1o, I think. Can anyone give me a link to a manual to walk me step by step ffor setting this up ? PLEASE!!

Im desperate.

Go to the DD-WRT website and see if the Netgear AC1200 Router is even in the supported device list. https://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database
  • Yes, it is supported...whats next?
  • In theory to install DD-WRT, you should go to the DD-WRT website that evilvibes posted, find your router there (make sure you get the right one, there's a v1 and a v2 for that particular model). There's a "factory-to-ddwrt.bin" download there that you want to download.

Once that's done, you should be able to just log into your router normally and install this file as a firmware update and once it's done, bam you're on DD-WRT.

I found this, if you're more of the visual kind:
