Can't access Santander

Hi,

I run PIA on a pfsense router but bypass one of my computers. On that Windows computer I use the PIA client when I want a VPN and can disconnect when I don't. I think I have a DNS issue while trying to log into Santander bank in the UK. I dissable PIA client and try to log in but DNS fails to resolve https://retail.santander.co.uk/LOGSUK_NS_ENS/BtoChannelDriver.ssobto?dse_operationName=LOGON. This is not Santander blocking PIA as I am not using PIA, except for DNS servers, I think it is just a missing DNS entry in the PIA servers. Why is this? It is a real PITA.

BM.

  • Well, I can access the logon page while using PIA DNS (no VPN active) but do not have an account. So there is no way anyone without an account will be able to replicate your issue. Since you did not state you used a different DNS then there is no confirmation that there is a DNS issue. Try using your ISP DNS and/or Google DNS and see if you have the same issue.
  • If you're still using PIA's DNS servers, it's possible that they are still blocking PIA and that when PIA's DNS servers try to contact Santander's DNS servers they don't respond, which in turn means PIA's DNS servers can't fulfill your request either.

Otherwise, seems to be working fine here on the VPN as well as without, so it might also have been a temporary blip.

    Hi

I am having the same problem
with PIA turned off I can not access the online login.
When I turn off PIA it works.

I am accessing stantander via: https://www.santander.co.uk/uk/ and clicking on Log on at the top right

The DNS I am using is CloudFlares

I have a related problem except even Santander's home page brings up:
    Access Denied
You don't have permission to access on this server.
    Reference #18.de81655f.1573121991.a861c27
Same message with 2 browsers running though pia client app on android 6 but not on the one connecting directly through the ISP.
Not a deal breaker but looks like a blacklist issue. The address is actually https so ssl/tls but an extra level of security is always welcome
  • Hey doitnow, I agree with you, this seems to be a blacklist issue.  It sounds like this is primarily happening on mobile data, it is also possible your service provider is blocking our IPs.  The best workaround in these situations is to change the server you are connecting to.  Each server has a different pool of IP addresses, you may be bale to find one that is not being blocked.  Please try several different server locations.
