ASUS RT-AC86U + OpenVPN + PIA

Hi!
I just bought an ASUS RT-AC86U which supports OpenVPN.

I've been trying to set up the OpenVPN client connection by logging into the router, selecting "VPN" -> "VPN Client" -> "Add profile" -> "OpenVPN" -> then adding username and password to my PIA account and uploading a configuration file from here:

However, when I click "Activate" it just keeps trying to connect without being able to establish a connection.

What am I doing wrong?

I found this guide which fixes the issue with not being able to establish a connection. However, when I have the connection established, I either a) am not able to access the internet or b) my IP is not tunneled through the VPN (I see my IP).

I was able to get my RT-AC86U set up with PIA using OpenVPN using this info:

Hi,

The PIA helpdesk solved the problem. They provided the following information:

"Browsing issues are typically caused by DNS issues. Please try manually assigning them (209.222.18.222 and 209.222.18.218)

1. From the advanced menu on the left side, click WAN.
   
2. Next to Connect to DNS Server automatically, click No.
   
3. Additional fields will appear, prompting for the addresses of the DNS Servers you wish to use. A common alternative DNS server is the Google DNS, which uses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
   
4. Once the addresses are entered, click the Apply button at the bottom of the page to save the changes."

One question for users of Asus rt-ac86u.

Have you enter PIA VPN settings with factory firmware?

Other words, you did not change factory firmware (you used out-of-the

box routerrt-ac86u) and you entered above-mentioned settings  in forum?
