Removed PIA but notification still shows up

in Mac OS X VPN Setup
I recently removed privateInternetaccess software from my mac but the notification still shows up. It gets very annoying. 
I liked using the software but this is getting on my nerves. Please help me get rid of the notification. 
I have disabled notifications in my browser and also at the mac system level but this still shows up.
It doesn't look like the regular notification window. I scanned my system for malware and there was none.

    How have you removed the PIA app? Closing it down, putting it in the trash and rebooting should be all you need to do to get rid of it.

    I just tried it and it worked fine. The key part is to delete the application from the Finder. If you just remove it from your Applications menu from the Dock, it just removes the shortcut but the app itself still exists and launches. After I deleted it via the Finder, it was completely gone.
