Slow to connect with wired connection?

Hello,

I have been using PIA for several years. I had always used Wi-Fi to connect to my home router and with no problems. Recently, I switched to a wired connection instead - I now plug an ethernet cable directly from my computer to the router. The connection speed is much faster now, with or without the VPN. Speed test shows over 100 Mbps for both. However, making an initial connection to something is much, much slower now. When I enter a URL into my browser, it takes a good 5-10 seconds before it connects. It's long enough that I consider PIA in this set-up to be unusable. Does anyone know why this is happening? I never had this problem over Wi-Fi, but I'd like to keep using the faster speeds of a wired connection. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Sounds like it's probably a DNS issue along with DNS leak protection and Windows not putting the priority on the correct network adapter. Try applying the DNS leak fix to your wired adapter to make sure it uses PIA's DNS and if I guessed right it should be fast again!
  • I appreciate the guess, but I tried it and it did not work. I'm open to other ideas.
