V79 Start Menu Shortcut Icons

edited April 2018 in Windows VPN Setup
Just wanted to pop in to say something I noticed after installing v79. Upgrading from v77 to v79 failed for me so I had to manually uninstall and reinstall v79. I noticed an issue with the PIA shortcuts that are placed in start menu->All Programs. None of the three (Private Internet Access, Reinstall TAP Driver, Uninstall Private Internet Access) shortcuts have icons and going to properties->change icon doesn't restore the usual green PIA icon. If I try to pin one of those shortcuts to the taskbar I still can't give it an icon, but pinning the shortcut directly from the piamanager folder works fine. Though I am using Windows 8.1, I have it setup to use the classic start menu.

The only thing I can think of is that I didn't delete the All Programs shortcuts manually when I uninstalled (using the recommended method), but I never I had to do that in the past. It's not really an issue and I'm going to eventually try a reinstall (I'm actually considering going back to v77 for another issue), but I just wanted to let you know.

I also noticed that since v77, the shortcuts in All Programs are no longer placed in a separate PIA folder. Not sure why that change was made.

Update: After doing a few reboots, the shortcuts finally started showing up the correct icons. Issue resolved I guess.
