PIA Maintenance, June 9Th 10AM ET/7AM PT

edited October 2014 in Software and System Updates
On Monday 9th at 10am ET / 7am PT we'll start rolling out a migration of our attack protection infrastructure.

This is important in order to allow greater availability and speed to our services, especially as our infrastructure is upgraded in order to serve our new and existing customers with the quality of service we demand.

During the maintenance, it is is expected that our website may be unavailable for 5 to 10 minutes.

Some of our services that rely on our web infrastructure, such as port forward assignment, may also be temporarily unavailable during this time. However, our VPN service will not be affected by the aforementioned migration.

Thank you very much for your business and we appreciate your patience while we work hard to provide you the best VPN service.

  • Thank you for this notice and sending the email! Last few days have been really productive in your communications, I approve. :)
  • I concur. Thanks!

Since I've been one of the complainers, it's only right to give credit and thanks when it's warranted. I hope the current trend continues. We do appreciate it.
  • Props to PIA. This is a step in the right direction and I hope it continues. If you could address the TRANSPARENCY REPORT & WARRANT CANARY inquiries it would be much appreciated.
  • What does migration of our attack protection infrastructure mean anyway?

I am sorry I don't know. Would be interested to learn.

    Thank you.
  • Major website providers use third party services to help them mitigate DDoS and other attacks against their services. For websites, you might have heard of Cloudflare, for example.
Essentially, these run very special (reverse) proxy servers that are used by the actual web servers to stay protected, similar to how many of you use a VPN service to stay protected :)
