Using PIA VPN without installing software

I have installed the PIA VPN client on my Windows pc at home (currently version 79), which is working perfectly.
What I like to know: is it possible to use the PIA VPN tunnel without installing any software.  If I want to use the PIA tunnel with my account anywhere else, can I for example put some files on an USB stick en connect to PIA VPN without installing anything on that (Windows) pc?

I searched this forum but haven't found any information about if this is possible and how to achieve this.

Thanks for any help.

not really a great idea.  openvpn is the most secure
  • Thanks for your reply.

I don't mean exactly the configuratie described in your link.
What I mean is an USB stick that hold all the neccesary files to connect to PIA VPN.  So, no additional configuration or installation is required on the pc that is used to make the connection with the stick, only the PIA username and password.
A "green version" as it is sometimes called when no configuration or installation is required.
  • That's not really possible. The L2TP setup will be your best bet for portability/ease of access everywhere.

The PIA app itself would probably run fine off a USB stick with some slight tweaks. The major roadblock is the TAP driver: in order to VPN, you need to create a virtual network card. To create a virtual network card on Windows, you need a driver for it, in our case that's OpenVPN's TAP-Windows Adapter V9. So you need to install at least that, at which point you might as well just install either the PIA app or OpenVPN directly.
