UBUNTU 18.x no WAN incoming connections with PIA v79 on

I cannot access my ubuntu server from a WAN connection whilst PIA v79 is running,
I can access it via LAN, and I can make outgoing connections fine.

how do you propose to rendezvous with the external (VPN) IP address and use the one randomly selected port (if you requested an open port after bringing the VPN up)?

In Windows 10 latest insider build I can get access using my system using my public ip address.
pia app is enabled.

very nice. Microsoft must be doing the rendevouz for you (do you trust them? and how many ports and services must be opened on your Windows box to accomplish this?). Try Teamviewer, then, on your Ubuntu box (at both ends, actually).
