(Addressed) Mikrotik router setup

edited June 2018 in VPN Setup Support
Tearing my hair out. Ive followed various settings posts and can get it setup as far as the route screen showing im logged into my account but the router wont pass all traffic through the vpn connection.
Can we once and for all get a working setup for these routers please?
If anyone has successfuly set one up please show me your settings.
Cheers.

    This worked.
I set up a l2tp password and set that up in routerOS.

The MTU must stay at 1400 any tweaks will prevent it from working correctly.

Dont move the dns to g##gles as you will lose aroun 5-10mb of speed

Also in the HomeAP screen i made sure of the following.
    Internet acquisiton -automatic
Firewall router - unticked (my mikrotik router is connected to main router)
    Dhcp - ticked
    Nat - ticked
    Upnp - ticked.

Once its all setup then reboot the mikrotik.

Be aware the mikrotik router likes to automatically disable your ppp\l2tp, firewall or your new routes settings if you tweak. If the tweak doesnt work it may auto route it straight through by default leaving you unprotected!

Check the new settings you added are enabled and reboot the router.

Now i need to tweak it to get it to run a faster connection. Im on a 100mb connection but only get 18mb of vpn bandwidth.
  • Good job, Muzi!
