Should one be concerned if one's Ip4 address is always the same?

Here I confess my computer illiteracy. PIA and other VPNs keep changing your IP address. But doesn't every computer have a specific Ip4 address? At least, mine does. Does this permanent address somehow negate the work the VPN is doing to secure privacy? Or do these things have absolutely nothing to do with each other. I'd love to know the answer from somebody who knows what they're talking about! Thanks.

  • You are fine :) Your real IPv4 address is hidden behind the VPN server so no one will see your real address when connected all they will see is PIA's IP address.
  • Yes, it is true that every device that connects to the internet has an IPv4 address. However, this how the VPN works. It creates a tunnel and masks your actual IPv4 address.

You can read more on how it works here. Hope that helps!
  • This is reassuring. Thanks to both of you!
