OS X Menubar Indicator When VPS is On?

edited July 2014 in Feedback
Hello,

As a new user, I love PIA and its ease-of-use. I'll be buying another account to setup my wife's Mac/iPhone/iPad since she travels over 120k miles a year to countries all over the world.

I know I can set up a "kill switch" on each Mac, but already I've had two instances when at a coffee shop meeting where I have neglected to turn on the VPN before my surfing sessions. I set her Mac up as one of my devices—so she could see if it would work for her overseas..and it did—and SHE has forgotten to turn it on as well.

Yes, this is user-error—and we both need to get in the habit of turning it on—but I have 17 menubar indicators (e.g., Tweetbot; PIA; Sophos; Alfred; Dropbox; Apple ones; etc.) and she has six. For both of us the generic PIA robot-guy icon, in black, just isn't enough to notice, or to ensure it is up and running.

Suggestion:

a) When PIA is on, make the robot-guy green like your logo

b) If PIA is off, make the robot-guy black (instead of the super-pale gray...or some other color since black would indicate to long-time users that PIA is on!).

That's it. Thanks for considering.

  • These very suggestions have been to PIA several times (even with illustrations, and references to Viscosity as a point-of-example.

Mac and iOS seems to get the shaft w/PIA. Encourage folks to hammer support through tickets to get the message heard.
