VPN frequently drops
Hi,
since I moved to my new place, the PIA
VPN has been dropping frequently. Randomly about every 20 minutes. I
lose internet connection and then after a couple minutes, the VPN dis-
and reconnects, fixing the problem. I can also disconnect the VPN
manually at which point I reconnect to the internet, and can then
connect the VPN again as well without a problem.
Looking at other threads, it
felt like problems are way too specific for me to find one that fits my
situation anytime soon. I'm also not at all experienced with this. I
tried adding exceptions to my antivirus software (Adaware), but that
didn't help.
I hope someone can help me out.
Thanks

I do recommend uninstalling the previous or current version you have installed, reboot the device and download the latest version (1.2.1) first and foremost. however if you are still experiencing the issue of random disconnect - please inform us of the following:
- What operating system and version are you using on the device you have the VPN service set up on (e.g., Windows 7, MacOS High Sierra, iOS 11, etc.)?
- Are you connecting to the VPN using our VPN software, or did you use different setup instructions (if you used a different set, can you tell us which set you used explicitly)?
- Any other VPN or proxy software?
- Since government censorship and third-party interference can sometimes cause issues with connectivity, approximately where in the world are you connecting from?
- How do you connect to the internet on that device (plugged in, Wifi, mobile data, etc.)?
- Are you on a public (work, school, hotel) or private (home) network?
- Are you receiving any error message or other alerts (and if so, what does it say)?
Once I receive this information from you, I’ll be happy to review it and offer additional assistance based on your setup! - PIA CS TEAMHowever - have you tried the following:
- change servers
- cycling servers
(connect to one server, disconnect, select a different server, disconnect, re-try the original server)
- change ports and protocols (tcp/udp)
- clear cache and cookies in the browser
- changed browsers to see if one is faster
- performed a clean uninstall/reinstall
(uninstalling, rebooting, then reinstalling a fresh copy)
- logged out of the application and reboot the device
(then logged back in to try and connect successfully)
Try these options and let us know if you are able to connect. -PIA CS TEAM
