TL, DR. down the bottom  :)  story goes ive been using PIA for years. Everything was and still is perfect. Tested the thing every now and then (checked IP and DNS leaks and also did some route tracing) all good till a few days ago.

I heard from a friend that the ISP im with does not support VPNs and that they only allow PPPOE connections so no DHCP. When i got home i called and confirmed, they dont, plus people complained onl1ine about them lacking VPN support but the bigger surprise was that it was true I had a PPPOE type connection. even stranger there was another IPOE connection with its default gateway setup as the PPPOE.

Im not done yet. checking my router logs. no browser history was logged. only events like a DISCOVERY or REQUEST being sent but no DNS resolution.

I thought maybe I just thought it was working but it was actually not routing anything through the correct gateway, tested and nope its working just fine.

aaand lastly my router tries every 15 or 30 mins to get an IP through the IPOE port and uses the correct DNS number yet nothing. log always says no  offer recv. poor dude he tries 6 times with 6 mins inbetween each one.

my question is... whats going on with PIA? Im happy its working but worried it might stop one day.

TL,DR  used PIA for years. never an issue but i found out my new ISP only uses a PPPOE connection which physically makes almost impossible to have a dynamic IP, thought maybe traffic being routed without passing the VPN but every IP and DNS leak test was fine.
