Since this morning (13th June) PIA can no longer resolve hosts - any fix available?

Logged on to my computer this morning, everything seemed ok - but as soon as I tried to go to any website I got a 'Resolving host...' message with all my web browsers that eventually timed out. Didn't matter what site I tried. Then I noticed a PIA update was available, so I disconnected my PIA app and ran the update and then reconnected - no joy again. So, I uninstalled the software (including the old TAP9 device the new PIA app seems to leave installed alongside it's new PIA device driver), reinstalled a clean copy, rebooted my computer and again tried to access the internet with PIA connected - same problem, the computer cannot resolve hosts. Tried replacing the PIA DNS servers with the Google DNS servers and tried connecting to different country servers - STILL refuses to resolve.

I'm out of ideas at this point - anyone got any ideas?

  • OK, quick update - I've finally got it working - but I had to change Connection Type from UDP to TCP for some reason - would rather have it on UDP but at least it's working (for now).
  • Hello CRF1970,

I am sorry for the inconvenience of the issue. Yes, changing ports are very common troubleshooting methods. Here are more options if you need further assistance:

However - have you tried the following:

    - change servers
    - cycling servers
(connect to one server, disconnect, select a different server, disconnect, re-try the original server)
    - change ports and protocols (tcp/udp)
    - clear cache and cookies in the browser
    - changed browsers to see if one is faster
    - performed a clean uninstall/reinstall
(uninstalling, rebooting, then reinstalling a fresh copy)
    - logged out of the application and reboot the device
(then logged back in to try and connect successfully)

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with! Thank you for your patience and for allowing us to serve you for your VPN needs. - PIA CS TEAM
