Streaming video in the US to US VPN

I keep running in to issues with various streaming services preventing streaming dispute being located in the US and using a US based vpn node. Particularly Amazon Prime. Any solutions would be helpful. I previously was having the same with Netflix but that seems to have resolved itself and the various streaming options through VRV are also not working.

  • Hello P6346229,

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues when attempting to access some streaming services. Please know that we are aware of the issue and are actively working towards a resolution. I apologize for any inconvenience this issue may cause.

Unfortunately, blacklisting of IPs is a very common problem with VPNs. Some large websites, including retailers, streaming services, banks, and marketplaces like craigslist, place a blanket ban on VPN use. Their security sees our anonymous IP address as a potential threat so they block us out. While we rotate our IPs regularly, we are unable to render support or assistance in accessing restricted content via our service. Your VPN may need to be turned off to access these websites.

Another option would be to try using one of our browser extensions as they do use some different IP's that may allow a connection. Our DevOps team is aware of the connection issues when it comes to streaming services like Amazon Video, Netflix, BBC, etc. They have assured us that they are working on our infrastructure in order to combat censorship and filtering. We believe that you should not need to compromise your security or privacy in order to view products and services online. Unfortunately, we do not have a timeline for when that solution will be implemented. Your VPN may need to be turned off to access these websites. However - have you tried the following:

    - change servers
    - change ports and protocols (tcp/udp)
    - clear cache and cookies in the browser
    - changed browsers to see if one is faster
    - performed a clean uninstall/reinstall
(uninstalling, rebooting, then reinstalling a fresh copy)
    - logged out of the application and reboot the device
(then logged back in to try and connect successfully)

    - try our Browser Extensions

    - try our PIA OpenVPN

Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with! Thank you for your patience and for allowing us to serve you for your VPN needs. - PIA CS TEAM

HI.. Its not just PIA there are many other VPNs that are having issues with streaming platforms like netflix and Amazon Prine. I used Nord and the server which I usually selected recently got banned by netflix and amazon prime.

I think PIA should introduce dedicated IP system for this purpose?
  • You can use OpenVPN with a static IP and still use PIA as the login and server access. I did that when CraigsList prevented PIA from accessing its services. Once I found an IP that worked, I hard coded it into OpenVPN and had 100% access. So there is a solution until PIA allows static IP addressing.
