New to VPN

Hello everyone,,

I'm new to the VPN scene. I basically just want it for torrenting. I use qBittorrent.

My question is, I purchased the VPN, turned it on (connect auto)

Is my torrent usage now protected or is there anything else I need to do?

    First off you need to see if you are leaking.

    If you do have a DNS leak you will need to plug it. The instructions for doing so can be found at the bottom of the ipleak page.

    Next I would recommend, but it is not mandatory, to use PIA's proxy server. That will also mask your activity. But it is not encrypted so do not use the proxy alone.

    Next I would recommend you use a kill switch, or a firewall that will kill your activities if for some reason the VPN drops. I use Comodo Firewall that has a rule that if the TAP adapter stops working the torrent software shuts down. Instantaneously.

    Once you have checked everything, then rechecked everything, you should have a higher confidence that you are protected from your local machine to the PIA server.
