Can't see PIA-connected machine when accessing network via OpenVPN endpoint

Hi all. Hope you can help.

Have an iMac connected to PIA. My upstream router is accessible via an OpenVPN endpoint. When I connect to the endpoint (say through my mobile), I cannot reach the iMac while it remains connected to PIA. 

Hoping this doesn't need a complex configuration. I have PIA Allow LAN traffic in prefs, not sure if that helps.

    Are you running the VPN on the router as well?

    Also is this access from inside or outside the network?

    Not running PIA on the router - just an OpenVPN (built into Netgear router). Problematic access is from outside the network. Can connect via OpenVPN from outside, and can see the iMac fine from outside, but once connect up PIA from iMac, no love.
