The Virtual Network Adapter is not installed - no solution!

Hi! Recently reinstalled the PIA client on my windows 7 machine, installation was successful, was able to login to my account. When i go to open the PIA dashboard it shows the following error "The Virtual Network Adapter is not installed" i go to the link to reinstall it, then it says it was successfully reinstalled. But nothing changes and i still cannot connect PIA. I'm assuming its something with one of my network drivers (i have wifi and lan). Where can i start to troubleshoot this??

Thanks,
Nick

  • Hi there! I'm sorry you are experiencing issues with your VPN client. To assist you with your issue, please submit a ticket using the following link explaining your issue: https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/helpdesk/new-ticket

Once we receive your ticket, we will be able to assist you further.
  • I am sure you have done this, but it doesn't hurt to do it one more time.

While you are filling and sending the trouble ticket, I would start by a complete uninstall. This includes the TAP adapter. You can find the instructions here. If you have already done this, do it again just to make sure. Also reboot the machine. Check your network adapters and also go to device manager/network adapters and make sure that the PIA Network Adapter is no long listed.

After you are satisfied that the TAP is not longer in your system, reinstall the PIA software.
