Can't Access Amazon via VPN for last couple of days

Hey all,

Has anyone else been having this problem?    I have tried a few different PIA servers (New York, East, Atlanta, etc.) and no matter what I try I get security issues when accessing the Amazon.com front page.

Without the VPN the page appears to load normally.

I consider using a VPN absolutely crucial for all online activities to minimize data collection.  It is really frustrating that VPN users are constantly under siege by these terrible companies.

  • There's ongoing problems with several destinations (Netflix, Pandora, Amazon and some others)...
Pandora now is blocking PIA entirely. Amazon can be made to work by using alternate DNS servers (Cloudflare or others) as well as picking a server outside of the U.S. What I've found is that I can still get into Amazon.com by trying different IPs (Connecting and reconnecting to PIA) and still use a U.S. server. Or if you don't want to go through this set your DNS IPs to Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 AND select a server in Canada. Then you'll connect to Amazon Canada but you'll have the option to display items from the U.S. instead of Canada...For me I prefer to just keep reconnecting to PIA until I get a IP that Amazon will accept. The Amazon block is weird as it doesn't appear to be a DNS block but rather IPs because like I said I can eventually use Amazon after I get an IP that Amazon will accept and this is still using PIA DNS severs and PIA connecting servers in the U.S.  The PANDORA problem appears to be permanent (At least for now). I use a router with OpenVPN client for connection as I have too many computers and devices to use the PIA App at home. If you are using the PIA APP for your VPN connection you can try the new Handshaking option  (In version 1.30 and later) (Change the DNS Server option to "Handshaking". There is also a split tunnel option to allow an application to bypass the VPN...I have not used these however as I only use the PIA App when I am traveling and use my router configured for PIA VPN when I am at home.
  • I'm having the same issue with Amazon and Netflix. As mentioned above, you can laboriously pick through servers and eventually find something that works. Have run across other websites with the same issue, though I don't remember which . . . maybe Holland America, possibly an airline.

Wonder what could be happening. I have no problem, except having to do the OTP, logging into Amazon. Not sure about netflix since I do not use them. I am in SoCal and use a SoCal server. Haven't tried outside my region.

update - I take that back. It seems to block me now with a "secure connection failed" error message. Oh well, their loss.
  • Hello!

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We have identified and corrected the issue that was affecting connectivity when trying to visit Amazon.com. You should now be able to browse the website as normal. If you are still having connectivity issues, provide us with any additional information such as error messages or screenshots so we may be of further assistance.

We are still looking into the other platforms so we thank you for your patience.
  • Hello, I have downloaded PIA to my Amazon Fire TV Stick but no matter what Country I connect to...... the IP Address stays the same. Please can someone advise me.     Thank You
  • As well as the Amazon problem having been resolved as of yesterday I am happy to say that PANDORA also is working as of today...
  • The PIA web extension still does not work for Amazon, issue is NOT resolved.
  • I tried different servers and I got in just fine. Try clearing your cache or you entire browser history. That possibly be the issue.

Tried that, this is specifically for the Chrome web extension, Amazon is still not working. Tried multiple servers and when i disable it the site loads just fine. Also this is specific to US servers and I switch to Canada server and it works almost as normal however with a cost to latency and geo-location
  • Still having the same issue while using the PIA Chrome extension for US servers, now have to use Canadian servers.Trying to contact PIA support...
  • PLEASE HELP ME PIA - YOU ARE MY ONLY HOPE.
I have the a similar ISSUE but NOTHING WORKS!
I signed on a few days ago, downloaded it. The next day, signed in and did everything the same and now NOTHING WORKS, my INTERNET, nothing. Its useless to use PIA VPN for ME. I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING, from changing ports, to changing to TCP from U... changing ports to 53, 443, 8080, and 4 more.
This is really really frustrating. I will have to cancel ASAP but don't know if you give back my money as soon as I file, or will I have to wait a long time.
Anyway, BEFORE THAT< PIA HELP ME, I need this to work. I have windows 64-bit and everything was fine a few days ago, meaning the day I downloaded it, it worked fine, the NEXT DAY, NOTHING, my internet system tray icon has NO INTERNET on it. I have to SIGN OUT for the internet to work.
I thought you guys would be good because LINUSTECHTIPS said so, but right now, 2 days of trying, its not worth it, EXPRESSVPN did everything perfect from the start and NEVER GAVE ME THESE ISSUES. I never had to change anything... PLEASE HELP ME PIA - YOU ARE MY ONLY HOPE.
  • I spoke with PIA support and they replied that they are aware of the issue and working on it... that was days ago.

Do you guys ever had the problem, when using 64-bit WIN 7, PIA works for 1 day and the next days after-the whole internet disconnects whenEVER I turn on PIA VPN.
I don't know what to do. It is worthless basically. I changed ports...reinstalled drivers, reinstalled software, and still the same issue -zero connection when the app is on... when I turn it off, everything turns on and I get the whole internet. I can't use any p2p software, all traffic is blocked off, yes EVEN AMAZON. (<relevant)
    what are you guys using?
ARE YOU USING WIN 10? And for 1.40 should I be? vs WIN7? is that how you guys are FINE and I have this issue?
I have COX CABLE from SOCAL.
Let me know what you guys know.
Thank you SIRS / LADIES. All the best to you all.
    sincerely,
a nice person in need of help
  • I got an email from you guys, but you can't answer me here? I see others get their questions answered... all I need is a quick explaination what it might be... since mine is a brand new install, it should be happening with everyone with win 7 64bit... tell me why not.

I'm using a free VPN for Kodi too, you can check out the articles on the benefits of using a VPN, not Tor or a proxy server. It can help hide your IP address and many more.
  • I installed PIA VPN on firestick regularly   and it didn't work so I uninstalled it and used downloader but same thing..I mean I can run everything on there expect for prime video..
Also is it bad if I have IPv6 on my phone and only IPv4 on my XFi..
