VPN on PS4

So the other day I ran into a guy on COD talking a lot of shit, I talked shit back which probably wasn't the best idea but oh well. He stated that he was going to boot me offline and I told him to, because I've been told that many times before with nothing actually happening. He ended up booting me offline, to prevent future attacks I started to run a VPN through my computer and had an ethernet cable connecting my PS4 to my PC. It worked last night and again this morning but now I'm unable to connect to my internet on PS4 with or without the VPN running. Any help or ideas are appreciated.

    Your PS4 is not protected by using an ethernet cable to your computer. You would need to use a router with the VPN to protect it.
