VPN now disconnects and reconnects every few seconds.

New user here, Installed Mac app on my Macbook Pro, which is where PIA will have its use. Yesterday it was working like a dream, no drop-outs (apart from when my Mac went into sleep mode). Today comes and the complete opposite is the case, I connect to a server, it then disconnects then reconnects every few seconds rendering any activity useless. I would love some guidance as no settings had been changed since yesterday, again as it was working flawlessly.

Try changing the ports and connection type in the settings (TCP/UDP). If that does not improve the issue, please reinstall the app.

I have been through each connection type and port in the settings and reinstalled the app a couple of times now, but to no avail. I am constantly greeted with a "the connection to the vpn server was lost" message along with a reconnect.

There are various reasons which may cause the VPN to disconnect. Some of the solutions are listed below:

1- Switching the Protocol: Disconnection issues can be solved by switching in between the protocols, i.e. PPTP, L2TP, and OpenVPN.

 2- Firewall: If switching the protocols doesn’t help then check the Router/ Windows/3rd Party Firewall settings. First, temporarily disable your firewalls and try again. Sometimes router firewalls cause the disconnection problems because Wi-Fi routers usually grind the VPN to a stop after a few minutes of use, plainly because they can’t keep up with SPI / Firewall turned on.

3- Internet Connection: If you have tried every technical aspect that has been discussed above and still facing the disconnection issue, then you may finally want to check your internet connection and the specific settings that have been provided by your ISP, so as to ensure that from which end are you encountering the issue.

I do not know how to switch the Protocol, but I have changed ports and connection types and that never worked.
I have tried the mac app again and it still refuses to maintain a connection for more than a minute.
The funny thing is that the Chrome extension works and remains connected just fine.
I would much prefer to utilise the Mac Application as I prefer to use Safari and would rather my whole Macbook be under the VPN when activated.

My Internet connection is perfect for my area and as I have said previous, the PIA app worked perfectly for everything for an evening.
