Simple plain proper use instructions needed

This is very obvious but I just need to confirm it. I first connect to PIA. Then I select a Magnet link and it starts my client software.

Should I start PIA before my browser session?  I am located in the US so should I connect to location outside of the country?

    Not necessary, but make sure it's on before using a magnet. What I do is change my DNS off of my ISP to either PIA DNS servers or Cloudflare's.

    do you mind explaining to me how do you do that? do you do that in the network settings of the computer or is there a place in the PIA software to do that? And is this a permanent change or only when using PIA? thanks.
