  • I do not get what the problem is. I cannot seem to get the 40 version regardless of what steps I take. I keep closing the browser, and use CCleaner to purge the cache and a boatload of other things, and I still get the same .39 version when I return.

I am about to make a new FF profile and see if the problem persists through that. If so, then I have no idea what else can be done.
  • No luck. Anyone have a clue what can be the cause of this? I doubt it could have anything to do with it, but I am going to try switching DNS resolvers around and see if I get a different download.
  • Got it. I connected to the VPN and grabbed the file. Strange that I could not get the same file while I was not connected via the VPN itself.

EDIT: You sorted it so not needed.

probably were getting it from a CDN/ISP cache that hadn't updated yet.
  • For anyone else running into the problem I was, here is my dropbox link to the current .40 installer for Windows.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/gy3corg5uho37wf/PIA VPN 40 installer_win.exe

Please feel free to check the hash as provided above. The file has not been changed except fpr the name. (And that does not effect the hash of the file.)
  • Why does when i try to download the new update my Avast picks up the download as a virus?

Avast, like most AV suites is f****** stupid. It is a false positive. They happen all the time, and will continue to happen since they only way the AV suite makers make money is to fool you into thinking every last thing on the Internet is malware.

Note: I have changed the name of the file to differentiate it from the other PIA clients. I just submitted my copy before this post. Avast is wrong, and so is McAfee.

Had the VPN for three years now its the first time it happen so i had to ask.
  • As there are current issues with v40, is there anywhere where I can download v36 for windows?  Normally I keep all my versions but I overwrote v36 for v40 the other day.

If anyone has v36, can you please share, with hashes?

    Thanks
  • No issues with v.40 so far ...........

    @pasadena -

    Here you go:
    https://www.sendspace.com/file/8v920j

The hashes are about half way down on the the first page here:
    https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/index.php?p=/discussion/3021/v-36-change-log

What kind of issues are you having? v40 is working great here.
  • I was chatting to support last night and they said they were having issues with client v40 and admin was looking into it.  Some of the issue were instant disconnection after a connection was made and the more important and concerning one was when the VPN connection was lost, the VPN killswitch did not work and I was still receiving traffic.  I thought this was really strange as that shouldn't happen and did a DNS leak check and confirmed this was so.  I jumped onto support straight away and they confirmed this.

I know some may be working ok with v40 but I thought I'd let you know so people are mindful of this.  Support could only give me a downlink to v35 as did not have v36, strange.  You would think that they have access to offer at least the previous version to 40.  I know v36 introduced SSL or fix I think over v35, which is why I requested a link to v36 and thanks for providing one.

You may want to contact support if you have any concerns over v40.

    Thanks and cheers.
  • For the future, I will be retaining copies of each release. I added the v.36 build to my set of backups. So at current I have 36, 38, 39 and 40.

I still remember when the biggest hard drives you could buy had double digit number of megabytes on them. And sadly the habit of purging anything I do not foresee a use for has persisted despite the price per gigabyte plummeting over the years.

Anyone who has version 37 or a time machine and version 41+, please help me build an archive of them all.

I am having issues with v.40. Does anybody have version v.38? That is the last version I used and it worked reliably for me.

  • Soooo is the linux client going to be updated orrrrr
  • I rolled back to v.38, which was working before, and I'm still having periodic disconnection issues. Is anybody else experiencing this issue?
  • Yes, *may* be getting disconnects, but can't tell how often.  Will need to check the log tomorrow.  Got them with v.39 as well, but didn't track the frequency.

  • I get disconnected every 10-15 minutes or so with the VPN on. My connection without the VPN is fine and I can reconnect again immediately.

I'm also having issues with the taskbar right click menu opening occasionally when I right click on the PIA tray icon. Doesn't seem to happen with other tray icons.
  • @pasadena Appreciate the info on v40. I'll keep an eye on it. I did have one disconnection yesterday, but it immediately reconnected. I'm not concerned with those (in my case) very infrequent disconnects, but if it becomes routine then I'll be complaining. I don't use the kill switch so that part doesn't concern me, but I know that many others do use it. If it's faulty that's something to be aware of and concerned about.

@OmniNegro - there was no v37, or v34. I do still have what I believe is v32 (the first one I got when I signed up - it isn't marked, but I think it was 32), and v33, and v35. Those were before the openssl fix so probably no one would/should want them, but I can upload them if you just want to have them.
  • @heyitsme
No thanks. If they were before the OpenSSL fix I would not dare keep them.

My connectivity is better today, no disconnections yet.

    Update: Nevermind, still getting disconnected.
  • Please, release the sha256 checksum for the v0.40 linux client.

Please, release the sha256 checksum for the v0.40 linux client.
They have not yet released any such version. Linux is running behind. Most users running Linux use OpenVPN since the PIA client adds nothing and is not open sourced.

*Edit* Disregard this post. I just read your post in the Linux beta thread. I am glad to be wrong.

Are the higher encryptions now offered through OpenVPN?
