Key-based authentication

I run a VPN on a FreeBSD machine with OpenVPN. By default, OpenVPN is compiled so that it does not accept plaintext password files ("Sorry, 'Auth' password cannot be read from a file"), so to use PIA with my server, I either have to recompile OpenVPN (a hassle), or enter the username and password manually on server startup (a hassle). If PIA offered key authentication (as some other services do), then I wouldn't have this issue.
