Connected to us-atlanta, but websites think I'm in the UK

Hello,

I have my DD-WRT router set up to connect to the us-atlanta server, but several websites think that I'm in the UK - they will show the price of items in euros/pounds, only offer to search in places in the UK, etc. Anyone have any idea what's going on? This also happens if I connect to us-east.

  • This is a Google only issue and on Google searches. They keep their own geo location data and is notoriously inaccurate, and get PIA IPs wrong quite often. We are aware of the US East, but this is the first I heard it on Atlanta. Thank you for the report.

I think that no VPN works with google searches, they keep their own localisation like said on the previous comment.

  • Before you do any searches with google while on VPN, you must log out of any app associated with google and delete the cookies. Otherwise, it uses the data in your cookies to determine where you are. Might I suggest using Private Browsing when you go VPN. This way you have a clean slate and nothing will be saved.
  • This wasn't on Google, it was on EBay. But I suspect it was the same issue (geo location data being old).
