Local Network is inaccessible

Using the android apk app from privateinternetaccess.com, it is now impossible to access the LAN when using the app.

The PIA VPN is set to be used as default on android 7.1, using openVPN, and the setting to let access to local network is off (i.e.e allow local network)

  • I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing issues with the VPN.  You will need to ensure that all the devices involved are using the same class network address.  All the addresses need to be either a class B or C private address, those ranges are - Class B: 172.16.0.1 - 172.31.255.254  Class C: 192.168.0.1 – 192.168.255.254.  Please note, you cannot mix and match B and C, all need to be in the same range.  All the devices need to be on the same subnet as well.

If these steps do not allow for a connection, please fully uninstall our app -https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/helpdesk/guides/android/uninstall-4/android-uninstalling-and-reinstalling-the-pia-app

Then, forget your WiFi network and reconfigure.

If you continue to see this behavior, please open a ticket with our Helpdesk - https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/helpdesk/new-ticket

If you submit a ticket, put, "ATTN:SMR" as the subject and let us know the specifics of your Android device and the device you are trying to connect to in the message.
