Have been up and running PIA NextGen on Asus-Merlin Router for at least a month...New issues.

But now AMAZON.COM seems to have a problem and often times out...
Have noticed also some other TLS sites having similar problems (Like when they try to load AD sites)...
If I change a setting in Firefox to use DNS over HTTPS then I can go immediately to the sites without issue.
This is because I'm encrypting the DNS queries to CLOUDFLARE...However this also is a DNS Leak...
So what is up with AMAZON.COM and using the PIA Next Gen DNS servers (And other TLS sites)???

  • I don't think DoH is a DNS leak. You can check that by going to IPLEAK.NET and see if it detects an IP leak.

I have DoH enabled and also USE SYSTEM PROXY SETTINGS enabled on my FF 81.0.2. No issues. I would recommend going back and see if you might have some other configuration that might be causing an issue, or even the PIA server you are accessing. I am using US California.

    Good luck.

  • I have gone through the settings...
Everything was working fine until about a week ago...
Then I began to see the Amazon problem as well as other TLS secure sites that would take a long time to load.
Sometimes Amazon will load and sometimes not. It's a DNS leak in that you are using someone else's DNS servers
other than the VPN. I've checked multiple VPN check sites and they do detect the anomaly when I use the DOH Cloudflare DNS. It's also a pain to have to switch to the DOH Cloudflare for certain sites and then have to switch
back. (And try to remember to switch back). Like I said this only started a week or so ago so something changed.
  • Understood.

Might I suggest opening a service ticket. Make sure you are detailed as much as possible.

  • Well...This morning Amazon.com is going through without switching to DOH Cloudflare..
I'll continue to monitor and see if it stays or not...
