Failed because of invalid vpn secrets

I keep getting this error when trying to connect. I have tried to install this 2 different ways on two different versions of Ubuntu. I have also looked else for a solution without any luck.

I can get the VPN to work on windows no problem so it is not the login and password. but the DNS leaks on Windows and i want it on a laptop. I don't mind switch distros or OS I just want the VPN to work and be secure. Does anyone have a solution for the error?

Since they say it is a GNOME bug, can you try a distro without GNOME? Or has it been made into a maze of circular dependencies where GNOME is used even when nothing in the GUI calls on it?

In my case -- It was a simple case of entering the old password, rather than correct password.

Instructions state "Please enter the Username starting with p you received after signup, and press enter."

I did this and got the same problem which i solved by editing my connections and deleting the "p" from each VPN point.
