[Request] Blackberry/IKEv2 support

Sadly Blackberry doesn't support many typical VPN such as OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP, and only a handful of VPN providers provide IKEv2 for Blackberry.

It would be nice if PIA had IKEv2 (in an ideal world Blackberry would support OpenVPN ;))

  • Yes. :P

If you care for market share figures, it's stable 0.5% according to FP.
  • PIA pls for the Q10 please. I love the BB - dont make us run away!!! :)

Wow, I do not personally know of anyone that uses BlackBerry, even our firm quit using BlackBerry almost three years ago and I don't know of another firm that uses BlackBerry (which does not mean that all would not use BlackBerry). When my family switched to our personal new phones last year my wife looked at a BlackBerry in the store because she had not remembered seeing one in a longgg time and she asked if they sold many of them and our service provider store employee told her they had not sold a BlackBerry in over a year.
And the point of this is.....?
  • Hello.

We have had a few requests for IKEv2 for exactly this reason.  We have passed the request to our developers for review. I can't confirm or deny it this will be added or not, but it is definitely under consideration.

  • I would like to add my request for Blackberry 10 support on my Passport.

Yes there are people who use Blackberry,  I have their new Passport - it and BB10 is the first BB I have owned and best phone I have ever owned.
  • Second the request... I do also have a BB passport, great device by the way... I have been a long time costumer of PIA, and while I still use it on other devices, it is a pain in the rear that it doesn't work on BB10
  • Bumping to show my support for this.
  • BB10 USER, REQUESTING THIS FEATURE ALSO

BB10 actually does support L2TP/IPSec.  Configure it as follows:

Gateway Type: Generic IKEv2 VPN Server
    Authentication Type: EAP-MSCHAPv2
    Authentication ID Type: IPv4
    MSCHAPv2 EAP Identity: <your username>
    MSCHAPv2 Username: <your username>
    MSCHAPv2 Password: <your password>
    Gateway Auth Type: PSK
    Gateway Auth ID Type: IPv4
    Gateway Preshared Key: mysafety

  • Instructions provided by @gocicy_ did not work for me. Did they work for any one? I can't figure out what is wrong. My generated username/password work on other devices.
  • No luck for me either, I am using the generated username + password and continually receive "authentication error." Also tested just about every combination of settings under the sun without success.
  • Wish to place my penny in the box too...

    IKEv2 pleeease.....

tried out another service, just for this, but their interface was a mess of server selection depending on useage... and a bloody nightmare to handle to be honest... Please don't force me to go back, support us :)

& no, the advice from @gocicy_ does not work, but have seen several threads claiming the same... :(

Would be altogether better if BB simply supported OVPN, but hey :(
  • Any updates on this one?  I too love my Blackberry passport and want to stay with PIA.  Pure VPN offers a BB10 solution, but is a pain to deal with.

I tried gocicy's solution noted above without success either.  I keep getting an authentication error.
