No tray icon after update to v80 on Ubuntu 17.10
Hi there! I've been happily using PIA on my Ubuntu box for a while now. This morning I updated to the v80 client after it prompted me, and I no longer have an indicator icon for PIA. The VPN is running (privateinternetaccess.com confirms I am "protected") so it seems to just be an indicator problem.
The release notes for v80 include this item:
Linux: Install additional libappindicator packages to fix the tray on some systems
Maybe this change caused a regression on other systems?
Thanks,
Brad

Sorry I haven't been able to look at the forum nearly as much as I usually do lately.
@islemaster Can you email me your ~/.pia_manager/log/pia_manager.log at [email protected] ?
So far I'm suspecting it's a dbus issue, I've seen other people's log contain errors related to dbusmenu, which how the tray works on Ubuntu. The new version of the app might have been built against a newer library and now it doesn't work for some people.
What do you guys have installed for dbus?
Outputs?
Thanks!
If I turn off Dash to Dock and logout/login to Ubuntu, the tray icon appears on log in and stays after turning on Dash to Dock. However the tray icon will fail on reboot/re-login if Dash to Dock is not turned off before reboot.
I have been living without the tray icon for a while but my first clue was when Dash to Dock needed to be upgraded and my PIA tray icon came back when I temporarily lost Dash to Dock. I had hoped that v81 would fix the problem but no.
