OpenVPN Configuration On Android (Instead Of PPTP / IPsec)

edited October 2014 in Setup Support Posts: 34
This uses the app OpenVPN for Android, so install that first if you don't have it already (it does not require root access, so even unmodified firmware can run it, unlike most other VPN apps).

First, copy the ca.crt file from the official openvpn.zip to your device.
Open OpenVPN and configure the settings to match the following screenshots:

(You can pick any name you prefer.)

(See the next two steps to set the CA cert box.)

380.png
(Touch the file you uploaded earlier then press the Import button,)

382.png
(Press the save button in the top right corner to complete importing the certificate file.)

(Self-explanatory, I hope.)

Now go back to the main list of VPNs (within this app, not system-wide), and touch this configuration to connect.

Enjoy!

Either subscribe to the service yourself, or open a support ticket if you are simply misunderstanding that this is a user to user support forum.

No. Subscribe to the service or not. No freebies.

Can you clarify about subscription. How does one get this. And I too, have been getting what Seagate1 posted. Any info would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

No. PIA is a commercial service. You can purchase a subscription, or not. If you cannot or will not, there are free VPN services out there. They all suck, and almost all of them log everything you do, but the choice is yours.

Hi there! I followed this guide, but the app is stuck in 'Wating for server reply'. Can't get through it... Please HELP! The funny thing is that when using your Android app, I can connect but at a very slow speed (tried the port switching procedure already). By the way, both issues are while on mobile network only. Wifi works like a charm. Thanks in advance!

No. This is a commercial service. If you are a subscriber and lost your login you can contact support, but I suspect you just think someone is going to give you an account. Good bye.

  • Yo. Gimmie the password and user name. I need to surf the interwebz through VPN and tor so I don't get caught trying to buy rit'lin and so my mom don't catch me surfing farm porn again. Come on don't b a turd jus give me.
No, really, omninegro, you are my new hero. I can't believe you handled all those posts so politely. I absolutely get being ignorant about something and not knowing the rules, but to not read the other short posts, it more likely, to read only the posts asking for login info and assuming you complied via email but not bothering to read how you responded on the next line, that I don't get. OK, so I probably have done that kind of thing and not even realized it, maybe a bunch... But I know I never was that patient when on the receiving end and I TRY to avoid being a jerk online.

    Kudos to you.

Thank you for nothing. Free VPNs are not worth using unless you like being logged and having your accounts stolen. And your link happens to be a referral link. That is a big no-no here. Good bye.
