Is bitcoin really anonymous? Is it safer than using credit cards?
Bitcoin was never anonymous. It is a logging cryptocurrency. It logs each and every transaction. Those logs never go away. If you mined BTC early enough, you could have some without any transactions. But these days if you want to get BTC you have to buy it and no-one is going to sell it without either proof of who you are, or a linked payment type like a credit card.
It's pseudononymous. The transactions are logged by the blockchain, but nobody knows who these addresses belong to without an arduous analysis.
Anonymous: yes, to somewhat extent (catchers response explains why).
Safer: yes, a lot safer than a credit card.
