Uninstalling and reinstalling the PIA VPN software can resolve a lot of issues that can occur with the VPN. For users running our most stable versions (v1.0 and above) of our application, our application now includes a built in uninstaller which will allow you to uninstall our application from within the application itself as well as allow you to install our application over the current version installed on your system.
If you are experiencing issues with our application please try uninstalling and reinstalling the application. For instructions on how to uninstall and reinstall our application using our applications In- App Uninstaller please review the following guides:

If you are experiencing issues with uninstalling our application using the In-App Uninstaller as there can be instances where it is not possible we recommend that you manually uninstall our application. For instructions on how to manually uninstall our application please review the following guides:
Upgrade Legacy Client:
For users that are using our legacy client (v82 and lower) and are wishing to upgrade their application to a stable client. You can do so by:
1. Right-clicking the application icon within your system tray and select Upgrade from the drop down menu,
A. Or you can go to our Downloads page here and select the latest version of our application.
2. During the install process the application installer will ask you if you would like to replace the existing install of Private Internet Access. select Continue.
(Note: Please ensure that you have Exited the application).
Uninstalling/ Reinstall Legacy:
However if you are experiencing issues with of the following: installing a legacy version, upgrading our application within the app or by running a stable Installer we recommend that you completely uninstall and reinstall the legacy client using the following Guides:

(Note: Please be aware that we no longer provide updates to legacy clients and as such we will not be able to provide technical support for these versions. We highly suggest that you upgrade your application to our most current stable application version.)
