On October 16th, WPA2 security was revealed to be broken, by an attack called “KRACK”: Key Reinstallation AttaCK. KRACK works by “forcing nonce reuse in encryption algorithms used by Wi-Fi.”
Now that WPA2 security has finally been broken, anyone that is within vicinity of your wireless network can access your network andmount man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks against you.
Encrypting with a VPN is the easiest way to protect your WPA2 WiFi network.
Alex Hudson explained the security ramifications of a cracked WPA2 protocol concisely: “What this means: the security built into WiFi is likely ineffective, and we should not assume it provides any security.”
