Step 1. Search for VPN by Private Internet Access on the Apple App Store.
Step 2. Tap Get, and then Open once the app installs
Step 3. The app will prompt you to allow it to send notifications. Press Allow.
Step 4. Sign into your account using your Private Internet Access username and password.
Step 5. The app will notify you: ‘PIA needs access to your VPN profiles to secure your traffic’. Tap OK.
Step 6. Allow the application to Add VPN Configurations
Step 7. You may need to enter your passcode to confirm
Step 8. Toggle your connection on and off
Step 9. Swipe from left to right to access the Settings
Protocol: Toggle between IPsec or OpenVPN
If you select OpenVPN, you will be presented with a few more options.
Socket: Choose between UDP and TCP. As of now, only UDP is available.
Remote port: Select the remote port you want to use to connect to the VPN server. If you are unable to connect, test each remote port before continuing to troubleshoot.
Data encryption: Choose the cipher used to encrypt your traffic to the VPN server.
Data authentication: Choose the hash function used to authenticate your encrypted traffic.
Handshake: Choose the handshake used to establish a secure connection between your device and our servers.
Automatically reconnect: Automatically reconnect to the VPN server if your connection is dropped
Dark theme: Changes the color scheme to include a black background. Useful for saving power.
Safari Content Blocker
Current State: On or off. You will be redirected to iOS Settings to enable or disable this feature.
Refresh block list: Updates content blocking rules to their most recent version.
Send debug to support: Retrieves a log with information about your connection and sends it to PIA support. Only available using the OpenVPN protocol.
