There are two Ways to change the DNS settings on iOS Devices.
Within the PIA App
Within the iOS Device Settings
Change DNS With PIA App
Step 1: App
Open the Application
Step 2: Settings
Go to the application Settings by selecting the three horizontal lines in the top left Corner and then select Settings
Step 3: Change DNS
Once in the Setting menu locate the DNS option under the Connection section. There the application will have automatically connected to PIA’s DNS. Tap DNS.
Step 4: DNS Options
Here you will be able to ensure that PIA DNS is used or you can select Custom DNS.
Step 5: Warning
The application will provide you with a warning prompt notifying you that use of a non PIA DNS could expose your DNS traffic. If you are ok with this select OK
Step 6: Custom DNS
Here you will be able to enter your desired DNS address within the Primary and Secondary DNS options. Select SAVE
Step 7: Reconnect
Once all has been saved it may be best to disconnect and then reconnect to the vpn.
Change DNS within iOS Settings
To change the DNS server settings on your iOS Device, please follow these instructions:
Step 1: iOS Settings
From the iPad's home screen, tap Settings
Step 2: Wi-Fi
Within your iOS Settings tap the WiFi option
Step 3: Wi-Fi Info
Tap the blue 'i' next to the WiFi connection you are using and wish to update
Step 4: DNS settings
Here you will see the Wi-Fi Networks information. You will need to navigate to the DNS option and select Configure DNS
Step 5: Change DNS
Once in the DNS settings you will see that you iOS devices is automatically set to Configure your phone’s DNS. To adjust your iOS devices DNS Settings, you will need to select Manual
Step 6: add Server
Once you have selected Manual your phone will then display the existing DNS Servers your phone is using. Here we recommend that you Delete any the DNS Servers listed and then select “+ Add Server”
Step 7 Configure New DNS
Once all previous Enter the PIA DNS servers
Step 8: Clear Cache and Cookies
Clear your internet browser’s cache and cookies, and then close the browser. Then you can reconnect the VPN, and open a fresh browser.
Note: This change can only be applied to Wifi connections, not mobile data.
