Beginning with v1.5.0, the desktop application now supports using a SOCKS5 proxy to connect to the VPN server. This adds an additional "hop" between the user and the VPN server.
In the settings menu, (which can be accessed by clicking the three dots in the upper right hand corner of the application), navigate to the connection tab.
In the left hand column, you will see Proxy towards the bottom. Click the dropdown arrow and select SOCKS5 Proxy. Fill out the following text boxes as follows:
(Note: the above IP address is for our proxy-nl.privateinternetaccess.com domain)
Then fill out the username and password using your “x” credentials you generated in the CCP. Once everything is filled out, press OK and then connect to a server.
If you receive any error messages or are unable to connect, please contact the PIA Customer Support team here for further assistance.
