How To Access Free WiFi from New York City Pay Phones

Free WiFiNew York City has launched a free public WiFi service at 10 different payphone locations, with more to come soon.  The initial locations can be found on Foursquare.  You can also find addresses for these locations on New York City’s press release.

The public wifi hotspots are equipped with antennas which can reach approximately a 200 ft. radius.  There are plans to launch many more hotspots moving forward, and most of the installation costs will be covered by the Pay phone operators.

How to Access Free WiFi in New York City

Accessing the hotspot is very easy, as one simply needs to select the “Free WiFi” option, accept the terms and conditions, and then you will be dropped on NYCGo’s website.    New York City and San Jose have definitely set the bar for offering free internet access and, soon, many other cities will follow.

    Well, with this along with all the Starbucks, Hotels and everything, I’m not really sure I need a data plan on my Cell Phone.
