PIA More Than Doubles Its Streaming Optimized Network

We’re making it easier for Private Internet Access users to find a dedicated streaming location wherever they are.

PIA, the open source VPN app, has added 22 new countries to its Streaming Optimized network, expanding the total number of available locations from 13 to 35. The expansion gives users a much wider choice across Europe, the Americas, Asia Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East.

There’s nothing you need to do. No app update, reinstall, subscription upgrade, or setting change is required. The new locations will appear automatically in all PIA apps. Simply search for “streaming” in the location list to explore all 35 streaming optimized options. 

Why More Streaming Optimized Locations Matter

PIA’s streaming optimized locations are designed specifically to provide a more reliable experience when watching online content. While standard VPN locations may already work with some streaming platforms, our streaming optimized locations are actively monitored and regularly tested against a wide range of services.

The Streaming Optimized label gives users a clear place to start, making it easier to find a dedicated streaming location without working through the full server list.

France, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, South Korea, New Zealand, and South Africa are among the countries gaining the label for the first time. PIA is also adding new options across parts of Central and Eastern Europe, where users previously had standard locations but no dedicated Streaming Optimized choice. These locations became available as part of PIA’s ongoing network improvements, which you can read more about here.

The result is a broader, easier-to-navigate selection inside the app. As with any streaming connection, availability and performance can vary depending on the service, account, and location.

The 22 New Streaming Optimized Locations

• Americas: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico
• Europe: Austria, Belgium, France, Hungary, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland
• Asia Pacific: New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan
• Middle East, Africa and Central Asia: Israel, South Africa

All 22 join the existing Streaming Optimized locations, bringing the total to 35. Each of these countries already had standard PIA locations available. What’s new is that they now have a location carrying the Streaming Optimized label.

How to Find Them in the PIA App

Open the PIA app, go to the location list, and type “Streaming” into the search field. The new locations will appear alongside PIA’s existing Streaming Optimized options. Pick the country you want and connect as usual.

The new locations are included with existing PIA subscriptions and appear automatically in supported versions of the app, so there’s no separate plan or setting to change.

PIA will continue improving its service and expanding its Streaming Optimized network over time, giving users even more streaming choice.
